Michael Hansen

Michael Gifford Hansen who was 38 years old passed away on August 4, 2025 in Santa Clarita, CA surrounded by his mother, brothers, and cousin in the home he lived in most of his life after a courageous 20 year battle with spine and eventually brain cancer. Michael was a warrior in his cancer battle with most people unaware of the extent of the behind the scenes struggles he faced with courage, faith and quiet resilience.

Michael overcame challenges that most men could not, securing his dream job in prop building for the studios for Local 44, despite an auto accident that left him with only partial use of his left hand and arm. His perfectionism, work ethic, and warm personality created success at every job he undertook with most of his jobs focusing on the construction industry.

"Mikey" as his friends and brothers called him loved, camping, boating, hiking, concerts, and vacationing and spending time with his family and their close circle of friends. He especially loved being a "favorite uncle" to his young niece and nephew who adored him.

Michael was born May 19, 1987 in Pasadena, CA. He is survived by his mother, Helene Hansen McElmurray, his father, Jeffrey Hansen, his older brother Trevor Hansen, twin brother Mitchell Hansen, nephew Ryder Hansen and niece Makenzie Hansen.

Over the course of 17 surgeries and 4 bouts of radiation Michael's many friends would repeatedly voice the same sentiments that, "there was something special" about Mikey" or that he was "their favorite person". He was known for being a great listener, non-judgmental and particularly for always voicing that he had "love in his heart" for everyone he knew - even those he was less than fond of.

A celebration of Michael's life followed by a reception will be held on September 11, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Higher Vision Church located at 28776 The Old Road, Valencia, CA
